About the Program
Recipients of the coats include organizations such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of Oxnard and Ventura, the Rescue Mission, The Salvation Army, local churches, Casa Pacifica and other service organizations.
Each year the Downtown Rotary Club of Ventura distributes coats at its annual Christmas Party on the second Wednesday of December. Last year over 100 needy elementary school kids from the lower grades of Lincoln, E.P. Foster and Sheridan Way Schools were able to select coats for themselves and for members of their family. This year the Club will again target over 100 kids from the same schools.
Collection boxes will be distributed to businesses, schools, government centers and public parks in Ventura County during November. Members of the Downtown Rotary Club of Ventura, Rotary will collect the donated coats and jackets, deliver them to Four Seasons Cleaners for cleaning and sorting, then distribute them to service organizations in the community.
Because of the current economic situation in our community, the need for coats for our citizens is greater than ever before. With the hard work and dedication of the members of the Rotary Clubs of Ventura, ten thousand citizens will be warm this winter. Making the world a better place to live, one coat at a time, is a goal worth achieving. Rotary Clubs are dedicated to improving the lives of others. The Coats for Kids Project is not dependent upon funding for its implementation but rather is dependent on the efforts of its members who devote many hours to the project.
Dates for the Coats for Kids Project in 2015 are November 1st thru December 31st 2015. If you are interested in the program, or have any questions, please contact us.
